Creating the smart contracts for the MVPs, doing the market research for them, assessing the product business potential, creating the pitch and actually pitching were things that all the teams needed to do and, to be honest, I think it sparked the entrepreneurship and blockchain interest in every student.
Hello Everyone ! My name is George and this article is about my experience at the ETH Summer School!I was initially nervous about it, as it was my first time attending a real-life blockchain related educational program and I did not know what to expect. I knew a bit of coding in C++ and a very, very basic understanding of Solidity.
There were in total 25 participants at the Eth Summer School and the program took over 2 weeks. We learned a lot about coding with Solidity, Tokenization of Assets, Privacy , Traceability and NFT Marketplaces. The trainers were all Romanians and experts in the blockchain respective fields!
The program was structured as one week of self learning, and then 10 days packed with in-person daily classes, Hackathon, Demo Day, a Panel on How to find a Job in Web3 or Build a Startup and a final Eth Community Event! ! Everything was super engaging and the time flew extremely fast! I found myself at the final day of training classes where we would need to create teams and work on a MVP for a product , an idea that I found really smart as our fresh-learned skills were put to good use.
The Hackathon lasted 3 days. My Team and I were building a MVP for a supply chain with an integrated NFT Marketplace, Validator contract and Royality splitter for the clothing industry, the idea of it being to make retailers earn more money via NFT Royalties and eliminate counterfeits.
We won the Second Place! The The Winner was a team that built a MVP for a project that would allow people to “ buy off” small pieces of luxury cars collectively that later could be put to rent to generate revenue for the investors. All the teams were amazing and created product ideas that were really intriguing! After the Demos, all of us received feedback and advices from the Judges on how to improve and continue the projects , how to find a blockchain related job, how to properly prepare our CVs or insights on building a startup, how to better pitch your MVP to the investors, and many more!
The adventure ended with everyone getting together and chatting at a Insomnia Bistro, with additional guests from Eth Romanian Community being invited, like Sasha and Alex. Overall it was an amazing experience where I learned a lot, had networking opportunities with real professionals in the blockchain field and made new friends. I really am happy that I decided to participate.
