Sui Hackathon Bucuresti

12 teams, 36 builders, 48 hours of coding, collaboration, and pitches - all leading to a high-energy Demo Day in Bucharest.

A Mid-November Sprint for Builders

Bucharest transformed into a hive of creative energy for the Sui Hackathon! In a carefully organized mix of work and mentorship, teams worked straight through from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon in a non-stop frenzy. The structure was simple: build, pause, refine, demo - with expert support always on hand. One of our colleagues even mentioned on our LinkedIn page: “Day 2 … went by fast, focused, and full of progress, thanks to our mentors!”

The six trainers who supported participants included seasoned Sui, UI/UX, Business, and Marketing experts to guide each team to move their projects from idea to execution in the shortest amount of time possible.

Real Projects, Real Tracks, Real Winners

12 teams tackled 3 defining tracks - DeFi, infrastructure & tooling, and AI - guided by 6 mentors who jumped in at every challenge. It wasn’t just about writing code; it was about thinking fast and come up with solutions on the spot for , and creating something that could actually launch on Sui. By Sunday, every team had a working prototype, proof that 48 hours of intense focus can produce tangible results. Here are our final winners:

  • DeFi: Suinergy, Sui Stars, Keeping Up With the Ilies, Trenbolon

  • AI: Keeping Up With the Ilies, Cyber Kittens, neuraLOL

  • Tooling: Kevo, Cyber Kittens, Smart Forge

We've also highlighted teams across subcategories like Best Business Plan, Best Student Team, Best UI/UX, or Best Use of Sui, contributions with merits of their own.

Mentorship and Community That Made the Difference

Beyond coding, the weekend was a chance for building friendships and connections through a challenge, together as one. Builders gave each other constant feedback and leaned on mentors to navigate tricky corners of what it takes to fully grow a project from the ground up.

On X, our team's post summed up that feeling well: “@SuiNetwork & @cometsofweb3_ Hackathon landed in Bucharest and the energy is unreal.”

The hackathon is more than just competitive teams. It's a clear sign that Romania’s Sui community is maturing at an exponential rate, and local builders are ready own up and shape their dreams.

What Comes Next After the Sprint

Despite our last demo slides fading into the background, no one thought of leaving like that. Conversations continued to circled around future features, possible DAOs, and next-level projects. Some started celebrating their victories, others wanted to discuss better ways of going around different notions. What started as a 48-hour sprint had already planted the seeds for something much bigger. It created a little chaos that couldn't have possibly stopped at the final bell.

Comets of Web3 and Sui Foundation, both in their on-going commitment to support these builders onward, won’t let the momentum stop here. New mentorships, resources, and future opportunities are already in the motion to come up soon!

With this first in-person Sui Hackathon now complete, it left a lasting mark behind us all: on code, on connections, and on hearts alike.

More Than a Hackathon

By the time Demo Day wrapped with happy endings, it was clear that it was much more than just about code or prizes. It was about the people, the late-night brainstorming, and those spontaneous moments that made the weekend unforgettable.

Friendships formed along the way, and 2 very cute canine attendees stole the spotlight from our teams, lounging between laptops and offering moral support. The best hackathons are as much about people (and pups) as they are about projects. Zero bugs, 100% morale!
