Sui Bootcamp Bucuresti

Our first Bootcamp in Romania!

From December 1–6, 2025, Bucharest hosted the first Sui Romanian Bootcamp, bringing together 32 eager participants for an intensive journey into blockchain development. Organized by Comets of Web3 in partnership with the Sui Foundation, the program combined five days of hands-on technical training on the Move Tech Stack with a high-energy hackathon, followed by a closing ceremony and celebratory dinner.

Mastering Move and the Sui Ecosystem

Throughout the week, participants explored the foundations of decentralized ledgers, smart contracts, and the Sui ecosystem, including key tools like Walrus, DeepBook, and Seal. Mentors Giannis Athanasiou and Álvaro Lillo Igualada from MystenLabs guided them through the Move programming language, covering its type system, object model, and advanced patterns like Capability, Witness, and Hot Potato. Special guests Philip Kourousis from Sui Foundation and Harrison Kim from MystenLabs shared insights, offering real-world perspectives that enriched every session.

An Intense Week Full of Fun

The bootcamp was carefully structured to take participants from fundamentals to advanced development:

  • Monday–Tuesday: Foundations of blockchain technology, introduction to decentralized ledgers, and the Move programming language. Participants learned core concepts like type systems, object models, and Sui’s unique patterns: Capability, Witness, and Hot Potato.

  • Wednesday–Thursday: Deep dive into building real-world DApps using the Sui TypeScript SDK, programmable transactions, wallet integration, and package upgrades. Mentors guided participants through debugging, testing, and hands-on coding exercises.

  • Friday: Final technical workshops and preparation for the hackathon. Teams refined their DApps, implemented smart contracts, and practiced presentations for the judges.

Beyond coding, the week emphasized collaboration and practical problem-solving. Participants brainstormed solutions together, tested workflows, and tackled challenges in real time, simulating a real development environment. Daily sessions balanced technical practice with discussions, allowing teams to iterate quickly and gain confidence in deploying functional decentralized applications.

From Knowledge to Action: the Hackathon

On Saturday, seven teams put their skills to the test in a high-energy hackathon, each developing a working solution to their chosen problems and presenting them to our jury. The creativity and technical mastery on display were truly remarkable. Winners included Bounty Board (1st place), MoveIt (2nd place), and SyncFlow (3rd place). Projects ranged from token faucets to workflow automation DApps, showcasing the practical impact of the week’s training.

Celebrating Friendships and Success

The bootcamp concluded with a celebratory dinner where participants and mentors came together to honor a week of hard work and innovation. It was a moment to reflect on the projects built, the skills acquired, and the milestones achieved throughout the bootcamp. Beyond celebrating technical accomplishments, the dinner highlighted the sense of community  that had grown among our participants who had spent their last five days intensively learning and deepening their Sui knowledge. Laughter, shared stories, and the excitement of collective achievement filled the room, marking the perfect end to a transformative week!

Building the Future of Blockchain in Romania

The Sui Romanian Bootcamp was more than a technical training — it was a launching pad for creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Participants left not only with practical skills in Move programming, DApp development, and wallet integration, but also with a sense of confidence and connection. The projects completed over the week created a strong, lasting community of builders ready to contribute to the Sui ecosystem. Programs like this continue to prove our commitment to empowering the next generation of blockchain developers, fostering a thriving ecosystem in Eastern Europe, and inspiring participants to continue learning, and innovating well beyond the week they spent together in Bucharest.
